Fort Trumbull played witness to 225 years of international military and political history, including being sacked by Benedict Arnold in the Revolutionary War, and more recently, as the site of significant sonar development in the Cold War-era Navy laboratory. The new 15-acre state park included the historic 19th century fort as its centerpiece. The story of Fort Trumbull’s rich history is rigorously explored in a 7000 square-foot permanent exhibition.
